![]() ![]() In any case, we’ve all faced a Google Play Store issue eventually. But at times, you may attempt to open it, only to be met with Google Play Store errors instead. Especially since its Play Store is our source for apps, games, and more on our Android mobile device. My sense is Google Wallet is not needed for anything any more (at least on a Pixel). Is your Google Play Store not working? Google is already a major part of our lives. I currently have both icons on my desktop (again, prompted by your post) even though neither are needed since contactless pay can be accessed via the notification tray, which is what I usually do. When I launch Wallet now (prompted by your post) it goes to the same place that Google Pay does (although without prompting for biometric login WTF). I fully set up contactless pay without ever launching or ever trying to find Wallet. I don't think you need to specifically access Wallet to set up or use contactless pay (at least, on a Pixel), and some of the app-MIA issues you had may have arisen out of the fact that these two apps both exist. I have P7P, which has both Google Pay and Google Wallet, although I think I installed Google Wallet myself unnecessarily - I use contactless pay all the time but never use Wallet. Hopefully this can help someone that might be facing the same issue. After doing that the wallet app immediately showed up on the app drawer and on application list in settings, and I was able to find it in the play store as well. The definitive fix came from cleaning data/cache for this system app: Google Services Framework. I tried cleaning data/cache for the play store app, removing my account and adding it again, checking my payments profile on my account, checking the country was setup correctly, and even factory resetting the phone. However, if instead of clicking to 'install' the app, you click, 'not now', you're taken directly to the actual wallet app, and it fully works! The fix Clicking on it prompts you to install the wallet app, but clicking that takes you to the play store app where you'll see a message saying your device is not compatible with that version. On this page there's a button labelled 'show all'. And after finishing the setup the quick toggle on the quick settings pull-down menu was also there, and clicking on it opened the quick menu (used for directly paying with default card). The workaroundĭespite the application not being installed, the prompt to add your card during setup was there. Trying to find the app on the play store, it doesn't show up on search results. The app doesn't show up on the application list, there's no shortcut on the app drawer, nor on the application list on settings.
